ZIFA Eastern Region Division One side Chivhu Stars received a huge boost yesterday when Zimpost donated a full kit to the team. Zimpost corporate communications manager Marian Banda said they were happy to invest in sport, particularly football.
“As a group we are happy to partner Chivhu Stars and we hope the soccer kit will go a long way in motivating the players to do well in their campaign,” said Banda.

“Today, we are witnessing the unveiling of a partnership between Zimpost and Chivhu Stars, which I believe will go a long way in motivating both the players and the technical staff.

“The partnership is just the beginning of new things to come and I hope we will go a long way with this relationship.

“This will not be a one-off thing but we will continue to support sport.

“We are proud to support sport as our corporate responsibility programmes were focused on HIV and AIDS, the environment and churches.”

Zifa Eastern Region administrator Tedius Machawira welcomed the partnership between the two parties and called on the Chivhu community to help the team as it is facing some financial problems.

“We are grateful for this partnership and believe it will go a long way and help the team do well in their campaign,” Machawira said.

“The donation is good for the team and I hope it will work as a morale-booster for the club but the community should continue to help the team.

“The team needs so much help as their ground is not up to standard and it needs to be upgraded and this can only be done through help from the community.

“The team can only do well if they are financially stable and Chivhu Stars, like any other team, is facing financial problems as well,” added Machawira.
Josham Mapiye, the Chivhu Stars coach, said the donation will help the players.

“I hope we will start to win the games now. We have a good team with committed players but at times rewards are important to boost their morale. “Many teams are suffering financially but we will keep on fighting hard,” said Mapiye.

Chivhu Stars are yet to win a single game in the championship.
