Zimbabwe working on youth policy to improve youth livelihood

Speaking at the annual SADC Youth Festival held at the Mutare Polytechnic last weekend, the Minister for Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment, Cde Saviour Kasuwere, said there was need for member countries to cooperate and exchange notes on issues relating to empowerment of the youth.

The festival’s theme was: “Dialogue and mutual understanding”.
“As a Government, we will sign an MoU with South Africa very soon as a way of exploring ways to exchange information and correlate on issues that can help improve the standards of life of the youth.

“The signing of the MoU with South Africa is the first step since we agree on all the issues covered in the MoU, but we will also do the same with almost all our fellow brothers and sisters in the region.

“Zimbabwe is working on a youth policy which we also hope will go a long way in improving the livelihood of the youth. We have already adopted the African Youth Charter and it is now law here in Zimbabwe. Our youth policy will also focus on issues such as HIV and Aids which is militating against youth empowerment,” Cde Kasukuwere said.-Manica Post
