ZIMBABWE Cricket’s cricket committee is set to meet for a full analysis of the national team’s performance which saw them booted out of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup during the preliminary stages. Team captain Brendan Taylor, the technical staff and touring team management yesterday submitted reports to senior ZC executives and the cricket committee and will summoned by the committee to explain the disappointing tour.

ZC managing director Wilfred Mukondiwa said it was normal practice for all travelling national teams to submit reports after tours.
The cricket committee then adjourns to deliberate on the findings and map the way forward.

“It is disappointing that we did not make it into the top 10 nations, we would have wanted the team to proceed further,” said Mukondiwa.
“Members of the technical team, that is the managers and coaches, have submitted their tour reports and they will be sent to the cricket committee.

“It is only after their findings that ZC can give a statement on what really transpired.”
Issues such as team selection, preparations and team management during the tour will be addressed in intricate detail.

Questions have been asked about the players’ pedigree to compete on the big stage and the situation hasn’t been helped by the clashes between the players and the leadership.

Prior to the World Cup, Zimbabwe went without an international competition since last September after ZC turned down an offer to host Afghanistan.

Former national cricket spinner Raymond Price yesterday added his voice when he expressed his disappointment over the team’s poor performance in Bangladesh.

“It was really disappointing, especially seeing how badly Netherlands played against Sri Lanka, when we know are much better than them,” said Price.

“There is no one to blame but it was just disappointing.
“You cannot blame the players because they have such a short space of time to get ready and then you are busy shouting at administration when they have paid the players.”
