ZIMBABWE will be able to achieve its Vision 2030 as President Mnangagwa has a clear plan on how to take the country to the promised land.

After a two-day meeting in Gweru, delegates said the President, who is the ruling party’s First Secretary, had a clear message that they would carry with them back to their respective districts.

More than 3 000 delegates attended the party’s 20th People’s Conference that was held under the theme, “Towards Vision 2030, through Devolution, Industrialisation and Modernisation”.

The conference, which came on the back of Zanu PF’s victory in the August 23 harmonised elections, placed particular emphasis on accelerating development projects that have thus far been implemented by the Second Republic.

In interviews, Zanu PF delegates welcomed the development trajectory adopted at the conference saying that this will move the country forward in line with vision 2030.

The Vision 2030 that the country is pursuing seeks to lift the country to upper-middle-class status in seven years’ time and already indications are, it will be fulfilled earlier.

Cde Patricia Munhande from Manicaland province commended the party leadership for organising a very insightful conference.

“The discussion was more centred on improving the economy for the betterment of the people. We are taking the message of development to the people,” said Cde Munhande.

Cde Win Mlambo from Chipinge said the conference was very educational and gave direction to the party.

“What is now left is for Government departments to implement some of the resolutions made. The President was very clear that members should be guided by the party ethos and values,” said Cde Mlambo.

Additionally, Cde Mlambo said as delegates, they are going to deliver the conference’s message to the people in their respective districts.

“The President managed to address key issues that affect the general public according to their respective areas. We are going to encourage party members to prepare for the summer cropping season, with the distribution of inputs already underway,” he said.

This is in tune with President Mnangagwa’s thrust of development that leaves no one and no place behind, a message which is not just rhetoric but is accompanied by action as demonstrated in massive infrastructural development projects across the breadth and length of the country.

Cde Flora Buka from Gokwe said the conference was well-organised and said she is going to take the message of the people to the grassroots.

“All the delegates were in a celebratory mood after winning the harmonised elections resoundingly. The President urged all the delegates who attended the conference to give feedback to the people back home. The President assured delegates that all the projects started under the Second Republic are going to be completed very soon.”

Cde Elizabeth Budster from Harare province said they were given opportunities to start projects for the benefit of women.

“We want to ensure that all Zimbabweans are empowered. No one will be left behind in terms of development. The party has opened avenues for development to take place” she said.

Cde Babra Rwodzi from Midlands province commended the hosting province for organising a successful event.

“As the Minister of Tourism, I am also very happy because all that we have witnessed for the past four days is tourism being brought to the Midlands province, having politicians and the business community together. You can see businesses were exhibiting their products, selling their products to politicians,” she said.

A delegate from Bulawayo province, Cde  Archibald Chiponda, said President Mnangagwa has stressed the need to unite the people across the country.

The President, he said, also emphasised the need for discipline, saying it is the cornerstone for development.

Cde Alec Nhundu from Chivi, Masvingo province, said they are excited to get first-hand information from the President on the state of the party.

During the conference, he said, the President emphasised that the Second Republic is more focused on development in both urban and rural areas.

Cde Martin Matinyanya from Harare said the conference was an eye opener to the young generation who are the vanguard of the party.

“President Mnangagwa speaks highly of the need to abscond from drug abuse among the youth. As young people from Mbare we will engage in a massive anti-drug abuse campaign among the youth,” he said.
