THE ZIFA First Instance Board will run the ruler over the Premier Soccer League clubs this afternoon, where those that meet requirements will be licenced for the 2018 Premiership season. Clubs found wanting have been threatened with sanctions, including meeting the cost of convening another meeting of the board before the start of the season, to provide a determination if they have complied with club licencing statutes.

However, Zimbabwean clubs are still very far from meeting international football standards and those found wanting are likely to escape since it will be difficult to implement the requirements considering the budgetary constraints of many local clubs. They are not the only ones as many across the continent, including Nigeria, have failed to meet the requirements.
ZIFA communications and competitions manager, Xolisani Gwesela, confirmed the meeting of FIB board.

“FIB will give a deliberation on the clubs if they have managed to meet the requirements to play in the Premier Soccer League this year.

“They will be looking at a number of things including the administration aspect, technical aspect, and the stadiums among other things the clubs are expected to meet.

“The clubs who fail to meet the requirements will not be licenced for the upcoming season but they will have to meet the cost of convening another meeting for assessment by FIB,” said Gwesela.
