The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has facilitated the setting up of a solar project at Mutepfe Clinic in Buhera to mitigate the effects of load-shedding that has significantly affected the provision of health services.

Zera engineer for renewable energy Engineer Mr Tobias Mudzingwa said the project would help the community and mitigate challenges associated with load-shedding.

“We have sponsored a solar panel with a capacity of 8kW so that the clinic is not affected by load-shedding,” he said.

“Installing a solar system is more affordable and going solar makes complete economic sense as well.

“This will help the clinic in cutting the costs of electricity.

“It will also benefit community members because solar installations will not require any maintenance so people can enjoy free electricity in the future.

“The solar panel powers the entire clinic’s lighting, heating, cooling and pumping of water into tanks.”
