Zaoga Forward in Faith Braeside Choir successfully staged a one-of-a-kind worship concert over the weekend at the 7 Arts Theatre during a live DVD recording of their upcoming second album. The show, that was marked by praise and celebration, saw the full house that came to witness the event being spoilt for choice with the star-studded choir.

Guest of honour Dr Steve Simukai, the deputy secretary-general of Zaoga Forward in Faith Braeside congregation, applauded Christians for using music to glorify God.

Reading from the book of Psalms he reiterated how music draws people closer to Christ.

“God delights in praise and his people expressing their love through song. Children of God must rejoice in glory,” he said.

Among the guests were businesspeople, representatives from other prominent choirs, the church’s top pastors, evangelists and even the founder’s son Pastor Ezekiel Guti Junior.

Through two different segments the choir showcased their prowess in RnB, jazz, rhumba and other contemporary songs.

Popular producer and guitarist Mono Mkundu made his presence felt as he showcased his prowess on the guitar. The highlight of the show was the performance that featured gospel diva Carol Mujokoro — whose unmistakable voice shook the auditorium.

With the backing of the choir Mujokoro, who is the church’s musical pastor, sang the song “Lord We Come”.

Renowned singer Pastor Stanley Gwanzura, popularly known as Pastor G, was doubling up as a performer and emcee on the night and when the time came for him to perform he lived up to expectations.

It was flamboyant hip hop gospel artiste Mudiwa Mtandwa who spruced up the night with a pinch of rap when he performed a medley of his hit songs like “Ndaita Mari” and “Anhu acho tisu”.

He got the youthful crowd on their feet with a gospel rendition of popular Nigerian song “Kukere”.

Towards the end of the show a sterling rhumba gospel performance led by a Congolese congregate known as JD proved popular as well.

The event was marked by the song “Pembera”.
