Zanu-PF Mashonaland West has stepped up its campaign for the forth- coming harmonised elections, with various operations and awareness programmes lined up at district level.

The programmes are aimed at informing people on the new dispensation, marketing the party presidential candidate President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the impending elections. In an interview, provincial chairperson Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi said inter-district meetings were already underway in the province’s seven administrative districts.

“We have gone through all constituencies addressing people, selling our President, telling them about the new dispensation and that elections will be coming soon,” he said.

“We are talking about issues of restructuring the party. We are already in the mood to do that and we are rolling (out) it to the districts.” Zanu-PF First Secretary and President Cde Mnangagwa has indicated that the elections would be held in the next five months.

Zanu-PF is expecting to win the elections resoundingly and consolidate its position as the ruling party. Youths in the province have also stepped up preparations for the elections with inter-district meetings in all the province’s districts explaining the state of the country.

This follows changes to the country’s leadership following former President Robert Mugabe’s resignation after the Zimbabwe Defence Forces mounted Operation Restore Legacy in November last year. President Mnangagwa assumed the reins in both the party and Government, leading Zimbabwe on a new trajectory of economic revival.
