Zanu-PF Manicaland Province youths have vowed to leave no stone unturned in their quest to secure a massive victory for the ruling party and its Presidential candidate, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa in the harmonised elections set for this year.

The provincial Youth League executive led by chairperson, Cde Tawanda Mukodza, has been in a whirlwind tour of the province, engaging youths on issues such as voter registration, mobilisation and reorganising party structures ahead of the elections.

The programme has seen them visiting Zimunya-Marange, Chimanimani, Buhera, Chipinge, Nyanga, Mutasa, Mutare and Makoni, where they interacted with the youths on several key issues.

Cde Mukodza urged the youths to stand as candidates in the coming elections, encouraging them to work hard to ensure a victory for the party and President Mnangagwa. He said the youths should reorganise structures in their areas to ensure a solid grassroots for the party.

“We all know who our (Presidential) candidate is. It is President Mnangagwa and as youths, we should work extra hard to ensure a landslide victory for him and all our candidates in Parliament and councils,” said Cde Mukonza.

Cde Mukonza warned party youths reassigned from positions due to their links with the now defunct G40 faction to stop calling for meetings under the Zanu-PF banner, as that was causing confusion in the party. This came after youths complained over interference in party activities by those linked to the cabal. Provincial Youth League commissar, Cde Washington Zihwiwi, said youths should register to vote in their numbers and shun violence ahead of the polls.

“What we want to achieve as Manicaland youths is to have a massive victory for our President, E.D. Mnangagwa, our party Zanu-PF, our Members of Parliament and councillors,” he said.

“We want a clean sweep as a party and this we can achieve by working hard.” Cde Zihwiwi said youths in the province were against violence and would not tolerate violent campaigning from contesting political parties ahead of polls.

During the meetings, youths called for empowerment projects and clarity on issues to do with residential stands promised to them.

The youths also raised issues with the problem of registering as voters, with many saying they were having problems with accessing identity documents, and needed Government intervention.

Youths also called for a probe on the land saga, particularly in Chipinge where the immediate past executive of the provincial Youth League led by Mubuso Chinguno allegedly abused more than $400 000.
