YADAH Stars continued their good start to life in the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One Soccer League when they powered to their second straight win at the weekend.

The newboys stormed to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Surrey Abattoirs.

Yadah Stars are a club owned by Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries leader Prophet Walter Magaya who also runs a club in Division Two.

Magaya’s passion for the development of domestic football saw him donate a luxurious bus to the Young Warriors to use for their training sessions ahead of their CAF Under-20 Championship showdown against Cameroon.

The Young Warriors were also housed at the PHD Ministries lodges after the team struggled to find a proper place to camp. Yadah Stars coach, Kuda Masaraure, said he was happy with how his men have started their campaign after scoring seven goals in their first two matches.

“I think there is progress and as newcomers to the region we are happy after managing two wins. The players are doing well and we are looking at establishing ourselves first in the league and then try and go for honours next season.

“The team has been doing well and I believe this season we will only fight for survival and try and improve on that next year.” Yadah Stars, who are using mostly young players with veteran Brian Mapfumo providing the guidance, took the lead through Morris Masiyakuvi in the 35th minute.

Johannes Sibanda got the second one six minutes after the break.

Magaya, who is building a state-of-the-art stadium at his Waterfalls complex, has said that he dreams of owning a football club in the domestic Premiership one day. The prophet trains with his players, sometimes for as long as five hours, and played a game for the team, when they were still under the Gunners’ banner last year, in the final tie of the ZIFA Northern Region Division One against Lake Harvest.
