CHICKEN Inn coach Joey Antipas  hailed Yadah for their strong fighting spirit yesterday following a goalless draw in a Castle Lager Premiership game at the National Sports Stadium.

The stalemate meant the two teams shared points equally this season after they drew again in the reverse match in Bulawayo.

Although there were no goals scored yesterday, the game was lively, as action swung from one end to the other, with a number of scoring chances created by both teams.

“It was a very tricky game. One thing about Yadah is you cannot take them for granted because it is a side which fights for 90 minutes,” said Antipas.

“I would say it is a point that we had to work really hard for. I give credit to Yadah, they go for 90 minutes and have very good individual players,” he said.

Chicken Inn goalkeeper Donovan Bernard made some good saves for his team while the hosts were also unlucky when they were denied twice by the upright.

The Bulawayo side which is fighting for the second place finish are now three points ahead of rivals, Dynamos, who play Herentals on Sunday.

Antipas said the Gamecocks will fight until the end and he hopes to collect maximum points in the last match at home.

The hosts’ coach Genesis Mangombe said he needed maximum points to ensure Yadah steer clear from relegation zone.

We really needed maximum points but it’s a game of football.

We were playing a good side which is second on the log standings,” said Mangombe.

Mangombe felt they should have utilised their chances especially in the first half but is looking ahead to their last game.

“We will see how it goes in the last fixture. We just pray the teams below us drop points and don’t catch up with us”, he said.

Yadah moved to 12th position with the same number of points (37) as  13th placed Cranborne Bullets.

The army side are followed by ZPC Kariba who have 35 points, and are occupying the last spot of safety, while Bulawayo City are a rung down and are in the drop zone with 33 points.
