Gunners in a midweek match at Maglas on Wednesday.
FC Platinum, who blew an opportunity to go top of the table for the first time this season after losing 3-0 to Gunners at home, will be at Maglas this afternoon against impressive Premiership debutants Chicken Inn.
“I would like to apologise to our fans for the defeat and the poor show.
“I am sorry for what happened on Wednesday. We did not want to lose, but it is part of football.
“We have not lost the league title. We are going to win games, draw and lose but we will come out tops at the end of the season” he said.
He promised Chicken Inn, who enjoy second position on the table tied on 17 points with leaders Motor Action, a tough time.
FC Platinum are third with 16 points.
“We are collecting maximum points and that is obvious. I am urging fans to come out in their numbers and they must expect fireworks at Maglas Stadium. We want them to enjoy the game”
Ngodzo defended his exclusion in the starting line-up against Gunners.
“FC Platinum registered 25 good players and the coach feels that we were all equal. Whoever is given the chance to wear the FC Platinum jersey must deliver.
“It is now water under the bridge as we still have 20 games to play. We are now hungrier than ever before. It was a gamble to rest other players.
“When you gamble you win sometimes and lose sometimes and on Wednesday we lost,” said the skipper.
FC Platinum coach Philan Mabhena left his captain Ngodzo, Benjamin Marere and Soccer Star of the Year Charles Sibanda on the bench with national team defender Daniel Vheremu out of the team through injury.
The acting coach changed the team that had won him three matches – Shabanie Mine 3-1, Black Mambas 3-0, Blue Ribbon 1-0 before drawing 2-2 against CAPS United.
The move, according to insiders, was meant to rest players for the explosive clash against debutants Chicken Inn.
The game was marred from sloppy marking by Godfrey Dondo and Lincolin Zvasiya.
FC Platinum only became offensive in the second half following the introduction of livewire Marere, Sibanda and Alick Marime.
Last season top goalscorer Norman Maroto, who started the match for the first time, had a good game.
The defeat by Gunners was very embarrassing given that the directors of FC Platinum had come to watch the match anticipating that the team was going to win and top the table.
Some fans now want a new substantive coach installed.
“I hope a new coach will be in place when we play Motor Action on Wednesday next week.
“I never expected my team to lose against Gunners and I think the coach must be serious not to take us for granted.
“How could he gamble in such a manner? Gunners are former champions and he should have treated them with respect.
“He probably could have landed the job but he showed us he still need time to learn” said Chriswell Maraidza , a vendor in the mining town.
Chicken Inn sent their assistant coach Adam Ndlovu on a spying mission.
Interestingly Mabhena was the assistant coach to Philani “Beef” Ncube when they guided Chicken Inn into the Premiership last season.
