LONDON. — Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is lining up a sensational bid to bring Luis Suarez back to the English Premier League. Wenger, according to The Sun, believes he will have big money to spend next summer and has put the misfiring Barcelona forward at the top of his wish list.

Suarez completed a dream £75m move from Liverpool to Barca last summer, but has since struggled to find his best form.

The Uruguay superstar (27) has scored just twice for the Catalan giants since returning to action in October following his four-month bite ban.

Sources in Spain suggest Suarez is facing an uncertain future at the Nou Camp following the sacking of sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta, the man who brought him to the club.

Wenger has previously failed in his attempts to bring Suarez to the Emirates Stadium.

He failed with a £40m plus £1 bid for Suarez — then of Liverpool — in 2013.

Wenger tried again a year later, but lost out to Barca.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has signed a new one-year deal at Arsenal, according to his agent.

The 32-year-old Gunners captain, who signed from Everton for £10m in 2011, was due to be out of contract in the summer.

But representative Inaki Ibanez says a new deal has been agreed that will see Arteta stay at the Emirates.

Ibanez said: “Mikel is no longer free next June because he now has an extra year on his contract.”

Arteta was appointed skipper after Thomas Vermaelen quit for Barcelona last summer.

But he has been forced to sit out with an ankle injury since November and has made just seven Premier League appearances this season.

Arsenal confirmed last week that Arteta had undergone ankle surgery and would be out for another three months.

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell is to join Villarreal on loan for the rest of the season, subject to a successful medical.

The Spanish club, whose centre-half Gabriel is on the verge of joining Arsenal permanently, announced the agreement on Tuesday.

Campbell said on his website, sports.bycampbell.com: “I hope to work hard to do things in the best way.

“I want to spend these four months well and succeed here. I am very happy.”

Campbell previously had a spell in La Liga with Real Betis, and Villarreal will be the fourth club he has joined on loan since moving to London in the summer of 2011.

The Costa Rica international made his first senior Arsenal appearance in August but is yet to start a Premier League game, and with Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil back from injury Arsene Wenger has sanctioned his departure.

Villarreal’s statement made no mention of Gabriel Paulista, but the Brazilian defender is expected to complete his transfer to Arsenal this week. — Metro.
