Preparations for the second edition of Watermark ball games competition pencilled for next month in Rusape are at an advanced stage.
Watermark College and the tournament director Barnabas Nemaire confirmed the developments saying that more schools from across the country are likely to participate at the much anticipated ball games competition.
“We are excited with the developments coming through in our preparations. At the moment we have more than 20 schools that have confirmed – five above last year’s overall number we had,” said Nemaire.

The ball games competition at Watermark College in Rusape will likely poise stiff competition for different High schools, secondary schools and colleges from across the country that will also be running for various prizes.

The inaugural event was hailed by various players in the sporting world who were involved, perhaps setting the bar too high for other ball games competitions in the country.

Watermark’s last year top goal scorer, Rangarirai Mazvidza (19), is upbeat that his school will make it through to the finals and probably win in all disciplines.

“The fact that Watermark is hosting all the games, we are going to make sure we scoop all top prizes to be won from each discipline.
“All the schools participating this time around should expect real fireworks from us because we are more than ready and there won’t be room for mistakes,” said Mazvidza

Other disciplines expected to boost morale and excitement at the tournament will be volleyball, netball, basketball and handball.
Schools and colleges who took part in last year’s inaugural event include Conway and Herentals colleges from Harare, Mutare had St Joseph’s and Mutare Boys High while Rusape was represented by Vengere High, St Faith’s and Watermark College.
