Residents from Zengeza East in Chitungwiza got an early Christmas present after their legislator Goodrich Chimbaira drilled two boreholes that were officially commissioned on Monday.

The residents thanked their Member of Parliament for acceding to their request.
“We would like to thank the Government for coming up with the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) that empowers members of Parliament to come up with projects that empower us as residents.

“It is very difficult to access water in this area. Sometimes we can go for over a week without tap water and some of the wells we have around are drying up. So we appreciate the gesture and this will go a long way to ease the water situation,” said a resident who spoke at the event.
Mr Chimbaira said more boreholes were needed in his constituency and he will make efforts to have more.

“There was a serious water outcry from our residents and we prioritised to drill boreholes in all the five wards when we get the funding.
“These funds empower us as Members of Parliament to respond to the needs and priorities expressed by our constituents and they also promote infrastructure development,” he said.

The CDF was established in 2010 for the development of Constituencies to alleviate poverty and improve the standards of living for all Zimbabweans through developmental projects.
