“For I am the Lord, I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.”

I have noted something very interesting, that with the advent of technological advancements we are constantly busy keeping up with technology. Every so often we are introduced to an upgraded release of some gadget or the other, thereby compelling us to repurchase the newer and “better” version.

It’s a continuous never-ending cycle and it ensures that the companies who manufacture these products remain relevant, current and profitable. In the event that this cycle is broken it can spell doom for the entity that would have failed to evolve and remain relevant.

Somehow this is the approach that we have taken with spirituality, that it should evolve with society and remain relevant to the individual rather than the individual remaining relevant to his Maker.

Shadreck, Misheck and Abednego remained resolute in their belief that they would not bow down to any other God other than the God of heaven. Their loyalty to God was not shaken even though they were offered the choice grade of everything that the king could offer.

Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we must compromise on our belief in God, we are pushed into a corner that makes us want to deny His existence, and often when we are living the life of our dreams we outrightly forget that He exists.

Loyalty is one of the greatest character traits anyone can have, the ability to remain steadfast with what you identify with. Oftentimes when shaken or confused we turn from what we know in the belief that the short cut presented will allow us to get to our desired destination a lot sooner.

What are you loyal to? Who are you loyal to? Are you known as a steadfast resolute individual who stands for something? Or you are what the gadget manufacturers perceive you to be, a net consumer who is easily swayed on the basis of any superficial change that is made on a product?

Our spiritual growth and development, which is crucial for achieving an emotional and physical balance, demands that we understand the ways of the Lord and how He operates.

When confronted with uncertainty or difficulty, all we need to say is “I know the Lord knows best. I will turn to Him and trust Him. I know He will shepherd me out of this situation.”
