Gokwe Nembudziya Member of Parliament Cde Justice Mayor Wadyajena has implored Zanu-PF supporters to register to vote saying that is the only way the revolutionary party can deliver a landslide election victory for President Mugabe in the 2018 harmonised polls. Cde Wadyajena said sloganeering and attending political rallies was not enough if people had not registered to vote. He was addressing party supporters at Nembudziya growth point on Thursday during a workshop to appraise party supporters on the Biometric Voter Registration exercise being carried out by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission. ZEC last week launched a voter registration blitz countrywide ahead of the general elections.

“People must not just sloganeer. Mastering slogans, while it is good, is not adequate if one is not registered to vote because that would not help Zanu-PF and President Mugabe, our sole candidate in winning. I want to make this appeal to you all, go and register to vote. President Mugabe can only win after being elected by registered voters through the current window that has been opened by ZEC. I also want to remind you that the coming elections would be polling station based and not ward based as has been the case in the last election,” said Cde Wadyajena.

He also implored party supporters to take heed President Mugabe’s call to end internal political differences through dialogue and entrenched party laid down procedures.

“We need to take heed of those exhortations from our President. If there are any differences among ourselves we should sit down as brothers or sisters and discuss them,” he said.

Cde Wadyajena denounced political violence as counterproductive. He urged party supporters to throw their support behind President Mugabe in the forthcoming elections, saying he was a tried and tested leader.

“You need to guard against fly by night political parties. Some people such as former Vice President Mai Mujuru rebelled and formed their party but they have failed to make any impact. So let us remain loyal to our party, Zanu-PF,” he said.
