Vote counting has started at some polling stations in Goromonzi constituencies.
Some polling stations were still open after 8 pm as voters jostled to vote. At Caledonia polling station, ward 25, Goromonzi North women with babies strapped to their back braved the cold weather to cast their vote despite the long queues.

ZEC officials at most polling stations said voting went on peacefully although some people failed to vote for various reasons.
At Goromonzi High School, some people were turned away for not possessing the correct identification documents while others still had failed to register as citizens.

Polling officers said some voters brought alien identification documents while others were not on the voters roll.
By around 4pm most polling stations had few voters trickling in, a sign that many had cast their votes earlier. At Mwanza polling stations the elderly were complaining that they had waited long even though they were being given first priority to vote.

Goromonzi is a peri urban district in Mashonaland East. The district has a population of 223 879 according to 2012 National Census figures. There are 113 506 females and 110 373 males in the district.
