President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, whose main goal is to turn Zimbabwe into a middle-class economy was inspired by God, Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs Mary Mliswa has said.

Speaking recently during a thanksgiving service held at Mhangura Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, Minister Mliswa told congregants that the economic situation and price madness were temporary.

She said Zimbabwe was headed for great heights in the hands of President Mnangagwa. Minister Mliswa is a former Methodist Church in Zimbabwe congregant, who later joined the Baptist Church after getting married.

“The current situation is man-made and is targeted at derailing the new dispensation’s efforts to turn the economy around and to uplift the people’s lives,” she said.

“Let us not worry about the current situation as God has a plan for us as a nation. He chose President Mnangagwa to be our leader for a reason. So, let us all trust God for He knows where he is leading us (to).

“I want to assure you that Zimbabwe is going to survive this passing phase just like we did in 2008.

“It is God’s test that we are passing through to assess our faith in Him and leaders He chose for us.”

Minister Mliswa said through President Mnangagwa’s wise leadership, Mashonaland West as a province was headed for success in all the sectors of economy through proposed devolution of power.

“Through devolution of power, development in the nation is expected to start soon and the province will be on its feet as we are blessed with farming land and vast resources underneath waiting to be extracted,” she said.

Methodist Church in Zimbabwe leader in Mhangura Reverend Lawrence Khoza urged members to support Government during these trying times.

“As the church, we are supposed to pray for the Government and stop criticising it for what we are going through,” he said.

“My congregants and I have made it a point that we complement the President and Government for the efforts they have done to uplift us economically and socially.

“Through President Mnangagwa, a number of female politicians have been uplifted to key positions, including our own Hon Mliswa who has been appointed provincial State minister.”

Makonde Rural District Council chief executive Mrs Lahliwe Murefu, who is also a Methodist Church in Zimbabwe member, said people in Makonde should support Minister Mliswa in her endeavours.

The service was organised by Mhangura Chapter of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe to thank God for remembering Minister Mliswa after she was elected Member of Parliament for Hurungwe West and appointed as minister.
