A violent Chitungwiza man who assaulted his workmate with an iron bar at the height of a heated argument has been jailed for four months. Misheck Munzvongi (31) of house number 10516 Zengeza 4 pleaded guilty to assault before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini. Mr Jarabini slapped him with a four-month jail term and in sentencing him, he took into account that cases of violence were on the increase.

“Cases of violence are on the increase, so there is a need for these courts to send a correct message to would-be offenders,” he said.

Prosecutor Edmond Ndambakuwa proved that on July 4 at around 12pm at Chikwanha Guzha industry, Tendai Mabika (29) of Mayambara Village in Seke who is self-employed as a panelbeater at Chiuya garage, left his workplace unattended.

This was the time Munzvongi came and took Mabika’s car bumper without his consent.
