THE ruling Zanu PF party has called for vetting candidates who are willing to participate during the primary elections ahead of the impending by elections.

The party’s Secretary for Security Cde Lovemore Matuke said the national security department has noted that in preparation for the impeding by-elections, some provinces have been conducting primary elections without submitting the names of aspiring candidates to the security department for the usual security vetting process.

“As such, provinces are reminded to submit lists of aspiring candidates who wish to participate during primary elections in a particular constituency. Objective comments and recommendations from the provincial leaderships are welcome,” said Cde Matuke.

This vetting process, Cde Matuke said, is a norm to ensure that undesirable elements are flushed out of the party’s internal democratic process.

Several constituencies have become vacant mostly because of recalls by the opposition MDC-T and a few as a result of death and the recall of Chivi South legislator Mr Killer Zivhu by Zanu PF.

As a result, the elections will be carried for when the time becomes ideal.
