ZVISHAVANE Town Council has urged its residents to desist from using social media to communicate challenges they face, some of which are unfounded and tarnish the image of the town.

In a press statement, town secretary Mr Tinoda Mukutu said the local authority has an open door policy and encouraged residents to approach the City Fathers when confronted with challenges. He said even if the residents face challenges, they should avoid the use of social media to lambaste council, saying it tarnishes the town’s image.

“We urge members of the Zvishavane community to desist from abusing social media to denigrate or attack policy makers, management and staff and senior Government officials.

“This tarnishes the image of our fast growing town and our beautiful country. The council has an open door policy and all those with grievances must feel free to air them through proper channels,” he said. Mr Mukutu said the local authority was committed to providing quality service to ratepayers.

“The councillors, management and staff remain committed to providing you with quality services in line with our vision, ‘To emerge as a mining municipality with high quality services and an ultimate investment destination in Zimbabwe by 2019’,” he said. Mr Mukutu also thanked residents and ratepayers for their support in the last year.

“We would like to thank all our valued residents and ratepayers for their support throughout the year 2017. We look forward to a prosperous 2018 and your continued support under the new dispensation. Together and united we can build a positive brand for Zvishavane and take this town to greater heights,” he said.
