THE Zimbabwe Under-19 cricket team coaching staff hoping to go ahead with plans to camp in Chiredzi to prepare their players for the tough weather conditions they expect in the United Arab Emirates at the World Cup early next year.Team manager Nick Singo told The Herald that they want to intensify their preparations after completing the selection process of the final squad at Harare Sports Club yesterday.

The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup will start on February 14, 2014, and Singo said they want to give the players the best possible preparations for the tournament. Zimbabwe were placed in Group C where they will clash with neighbours South Africa, West Indies and Canada, according to the draw conducted at the weekend.

“We have finalised everything and I believe the (selection) process was quite fair. We did it over five days to give all the players enough time to perform to their best and now we have submitted the names to the board for approval,” said Singo.

Under-19 Cricket World Cup Groups
Group A: India, Pakistan, Scotland, Papua New Guinea.
Group B: Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Namibia.
Group C: South Africa, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Canada.
Group D: New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, UAE.
