TWO Presidential Guard Battalion dominated the 2016 Presidential Guard sports week, whose curtain came down at their home ground in Dzivaresekwa yesterday.

The battalion dominated in soccer where they beat One Presidential Guard 2-0 in the final while also wining in boxing, darts, volleyball, tug of war, and athletics. Headquarters Presidential Guard was second, as they won pool and netball while coming out as runners-up in darts and tug-of-war.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the five-day tournament, Brigadier General Anslem Nhamo Sanyatwa, emphasised the importance of sport in the army and said they hope to come up with the strongest possible team for the inter-zonal games.

“I feel greatly honoured and privileged to officiate at this occasion which marks the end of the sports week which begun on Monday. Sport builds spirit and is part and parcel of training activities we were directed to have by the Zimbabwe National Army Commander,” said Sanyatwa.
