SIMBA Bhora coach, Arthur Tutani, believes their victory over Golden Eagles, in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One league, will set the tempo for his men to challenge for the title.

Tutani’s men fired warning shots with an impressive 3-1 win at home at Wadzanai Stadium in Shamva.

There were more fans at Wadzanai Stadium, than those who have been watching the domestic Premiership in Harare.

The coach is a serial winner of the championship race.

“I am happy that we managed to win and the points will be vital come end of season,’’ said Tutani. “’The boys were very eager to win and I hope they will continue with this mentality.

“There are still some areas, which we need to spruce up, but there is no bad win, so I welcome the three points.’’

Black Mambas also got their campaign underway with a 2-0 win over Karoi United at Morris Depot. Chegutu Pirates gave their fans something to celebrate with a 2-0 win over Banket United who are now under the guidance of veteran coach, Paul “Popopo’’ Chimalizeni. The gaffer has been in charge of Harare social side, Jameson Boys, before taking charge of Banket United.

Jameson Boys, who intend to join the competitive leagues, are a collection of former Premiership players.

They include Brian Mteki, Elvis Meleka, Ephraim Mazarura and Sydney Linyama.

Gladman “Dallas’’ Sekawawana is the director of football. Affectionately known as “BU’’, the Banket side are seasoned campaigners in Division One, and were at their best in the ‘80s, when they were powered by the Nzombe brothers — Simbarashe and Shepherd.
