WARRIORS forward, Tino Kadewere, has landed yet another ambassadorial appointment, this time with the City of Harare.

The 25-year-old will be officially appointed next week at Rufaro Stadium, and the roadshow will continue at other council-run sports facilities, marking the beginning of their renovations, and upgrading.

Acting Harare Mayor, Stewart Mutizwa, confirmed Kadewere’s appointment yesterday.

He said the former Harare City striker is perfectly positioned to spread the gospel about the capital.

“Yes, Tino (Kadewere) has been appointed the City of Harare ambassador,” Mutizwa said.

“There are so many reasons behind this appointment.

“Firstly, Kadewere is a former Harare City player, the team which is run by the City of Harare.

“He is the team’s biggest export, so far, and his intimate association with the club, up to now, is inspiring.

“Just recently, he donated some kits for the team and he is also always motivating the players to work hard.

“He is in a good position to market the brand Harare and we have so much confidence in his brand.

“There is a reason why you need to honour your own. He is one of our own. Instead of saying Lionel Messi, or Cristiano Ronaldo being our ambassador, we have made Tino our own ambassador.”

And, the latest appointment comes just a fortnight after he was appointed the brand ambassador for Senditoo.

He is expected to drive their promotions, and marketing, as the company prepare to penetrate the European market.

Kadewere is also the Zimbabwe tourism ambassador and he is the face of 4 May International.

The company, which has shops which sell trendy suits, supplied the Warriors with suits ahead of the 2019 AFCOn finals.

Kadewere is currently in the country, on his off-season break, and is expected to leave in the coming weeks, for pre-season preparations.

While in the country, he has taken time to visit some grassroots clubs, where his Kadewere Foundation, have donated football kits.

He has also taken time to lecture Harare City players, attending their matches in the Chibuku Super Cup which has, unfortunately, been suspended due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in the country.

Kadewere took the French Ligue 1 by storm, in his debut campaign with Lyon, after joining from second-tier side, Le Havre.

He scored 10 goals, and provided three assists, helping the French giants to UEFA Europa qualification.

He was also considered for the Marc Vivien Foe Award, which is given to the best African player, plying his trade, in the French Ligue 1.

It has been handed out every year, since 2009, in honour of Cameroon legend, Marc Vivien Foe, who died suddenly from cardiac arrest, during a FUFA Confederation Cup tie between the Indomitable Lions, and Colombia, in 2003.

Kadewere was also named The Herald’s Footballer of the Season by the sportswriters on this newspaper.
