Scores of people thronged the Borrowdale Racecourse on Saturday for the popular “Burn Outs” spiced by a cool mix of music and the razzmatazz associated with such events. Dubbed “Old boys versus new boys” the “burn outs” went a gear up from the first edition as new boys among them Shannon “Anonymous Spin Kid “ Mayor, Maurice “Vevelicious” Mayor and Denzel “D-Boy” Mayor thrilled the colourful crowd with amazing performances behind the wheels.

There were oohs and aahs at the racecourse for the greater part of the afternoon as the young boys took on the old boys like Isaac “Fat Cat” Mayor, Gordon Mayor and The General from Botswana.

The General left the crowd in awe with his comic and breathtaking stunts which he effortlessly delivered. As usual, The General used every trick that he had up his sleeves including jumping in and out of the car while it was in motion.  Fat Cat gave decency to the event as he showcased some of his tried and tested skills with his gusheshe style -the only one of its kind. Everytime he was behind the wheels he left the racecourse up in smoke much to the delight of the crowd.

The 13-year-old D-Boy who was introduced to spinning for the first time at the weekend showed the old boys that new talented spinners are coming up in a big way. The few minutes that he took a spin everybody loved it and with daring spinners like him, the future is bright.

Leeroy “Kunnie” Greene and Dante Rock who were the two stuntmen at the event went head-to-head to thrill the crowd performing some of the deadliest stunts imaginable.

But things were happening at the terraces with fashionistas outdoing each other. You cannot ignore the fashion scene that comes with “Burn Outs”. From the tinniest shorts to the more revealing outfits it was all there.

Music lovers had a treat from the league of extraordinary Djs led by Shy Spin, Patch, Ren-X and J Dub on the turntables. Some people could be seen dancing to the music throughout the afternoon to celebrate summer time. The showers that fell at the start of the event did not in any way deter people from attending the fiesta.

It was truly a family fund day out with children under 12 attending the show for free with lots of entertainment including jumping castles and braai at the food stalls.
