A beer brawl ended badly in Glen View on March 4 when three men assaulted and killed a man over a past romantic relationship with the same girl that one of the killers had earlier courted.

Geodricks Mushonga was stabbed multiple times, including on the head, neck and back, which caused his immediate death.

Illegal gold panner Last Takundwa appeared in court yesterday facing murder charges before Harare magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi and was remanded to March 27 for routine remand.

State prosecutor Mr Nigel Chanakira alleged that on March 4 at around 2am, Last and his accomplices, Robson Takundwa and Justin Magedhi, were drinking beer inside Big Dhara Nite Club at Glen View 4 Shopping Centre in Harare.

The three had a misunderstanding with Mr Mushonga over a girlfriend whom Last had earlier courted.

Last and his accomplices, who blocked the entrance, dragged Mr Mushonga out to the bus terminus in front of the club and slapped and kicked him.

One of the three pulled out a knife and stabbed him three times on the head, neck and back resulting in his death.

The court heard that after they committed the offence, the three then fled from the scene and went into hiding.

According to the police, Last is a neighbour to the late Mr Mushonga’s parents.

Members of the public allegedly stormed Last’s house chanting and demanding to see him, banging the doors and smashing windows after he had committed the crime.
