The Tourism Business Council of Zimbabwe (TBCZ) has urged the business community to engage in dialogue with the Government to find lasting solutions to prevailing economic challenges. Speaking at a Press briefing to clarify issues affecting the travel and tourism sector and to introduce new board members, TBCZ president Winnie Muchanyuka said there was need to partner other stakeholders in addressing economic difficulties.

“As the travel and tourism sector we welcome engagement with the authorities at all levels and in all areas of endeavour, and we offer ourselves as partners so that we can provide meaningful cooperation and help.

“Let us rather combine energies, efforts, expertise and experience with other players from other sectors, both private and public to harness the potential offered by such team work.

“We are here and we are ready and willing to join forces with all people and organisations of good intent for the benefit of Zimbabwe,” she said.

“The travel and tourism sector is doing the best it can to remain viable and operational, and to play the all-important role of hosting international visitors who bring the essential foreign currency that is needed to facilitate daily living, economic performance and economic growth.

“As individuals and business people we face a range of challenges each day, including escalating cost of living and working, as well as shortages of essential commodities and inputs such as fuel and power.”

Ms Muchanyuka also welcomed the new board members of TBCZ and urged them to work hard for the benefit of the country.
“On behalf of the tourism and travel sector I encourage the new members to work as a team and play a pivotal role in helping ensure the success of travel and tourism in this country,” she said.

The board comprises businesspeople and senior players in the tourism industry.
They include Muchanyuka, George Manyumwa, Paul Matamisa, Tich Hwingwiri, Gillian Rusike, Gavin Rennie, Agmos Moyo, Carol White, Chipo Mandela, Edwin Shangwe, Givemore Chidzidzi, Shepherd Nyaruwata, Wengai Nhau, Karren Tumazos and Paul Matamisa .
