top female motocross rider Tanya Muzinda is set to have another dance with one of the major racing events in England – the HL Racing Master Kids UK Championships – in May.

Established in 2014 and growing every year with riders travelling from as far as Denmark, the HL Racing Master Kids UK Championships is one of the UK’s top youth motocross events which caters for every level of races from first timers to the best MXY2s. Racing is done over three days with qualifying sessions and then riders are split into two or three groups of 40 according to their own abilities.

This year’s HL Racing Master Kids UK has been slated to run from May 5 to 7 at its traditional home, the famous Motoland Track at Mildenhall in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, which is just outside London and Muzinda (13) will, for the second year running, take part in this big international motocross event which now has a prize money of £1 000 for the winners of each class. Muzinda first took part in this event in May last year and she left some huge footprints there by finishing third overall in the 85cc B Class (small wheel).

She has since graduated to race in 85cc Class (big wheel) this year.

Coming up against a strong field of 36 top junior male and female riders from England and other European countries in the 85cc B Class (small wheel) in last year’s event, Muzinda carried the Zimbabwean flag high at the three-day race meeting where she earned herself a place on the podium at the end of the championships.

Muzinda ended up being the darling of the British motocross fans and the media.

Before settling for the overall third place finish on the final day of the event, Muzinda first made history by becoming the first female racer to win a heat at the British Master Kids UK Championships since its inauguration in 2014 when she won Heat Three on Day Two.

And after her history-making performance on Day Two of the championships, Muzinda posted another impressive display on the final day, finishing second behind Briton Aidan Monk. She came third in the 85cc B Class to walk away with a bronze medal. Muzinda’s father and manager, Tawanda “PolyCup” Muzinda, told The Herald yesterday that he has already entered his daughter for this year’s HL Racing Master Kids UK Championships.

“In fact, before taking part in the Master Kids UK Championships, Tanya will first have to race in the UK Girls Nationals first round at Duns in Scotland on April 27 and 28; and this means we should leave for the UK in mid-April or thereafter so that we can have at least two weeks of practise before competing in these two big events there. The other thing is that Tanya will also be joining the Coventry Junior Motocross Club before or just after taking part in these two events and once she is accepted as a member of that club, she will be in a position to take part in other big racing events in the UK during the year,’’ Tawanda said.
