ZIMBABWE’S Sheldon Steyn recovered yesterday to finish on level par to remain in the hunt at the Sunshine Tour pre-qualifiers at the Schoeman Park Golf Club in South Africa. The former Lomagundi College student Steyn had a great start as he posted an impressive four-under-par 68 in the first round but stumbled in the second with a three over-par and then a one-over par in the third.
He will be level par going in the fourth round and that should give him hope.

Steyn, a product of The Gary Player School of Champions run by the South African legend, is bidding to become the second Zimbabwean golfer with full playing privileges on the Sunshine Tour.

The other is Ryan Cairns.
Cairns recently took part in the 2014 PGA TOUR Latinoamérica Qualifying tournament in Peru.

There were 236 entrants in the Sunshine Tour pre-qualifiers who will have to play two rounds on each of the Bloemfontein Golf Club and Schoeman Park courses ahead of the cut when the field is reduced to 60 players.

After a final round at Bloemfontein Golf Club, the top 30 players and ties will get their Sunshine Tour cards.
Greg Bentley had an opening round of two-over-par 74, a level par and a three-over-par in the third round.

Bentley still has a chance to make it into the top 60 as he will go into today’s round sitting on 67th place.
It is the Hudson siblings, Grant and Bradley, who have a big job ahead with the former, a TUKS student, finishing the third round on 18-over-par while his brother was 32-over-par.
