ST GEORGE’S College will this week host the annual Conference for Heads of Independent Schools in Zimbabwe soccer tournament. The tournament will feature 13 schools — Gateway ,Watershed College ,St John’s College, Westridge, Peterhouse College ,Lomagundi College, Hillcrest College, Midlands Christian College, Goldridge, Falcon College, Kyle College, South Eastern College and the hosts.
The two-day tournament will get underway on Friday at 8am.

Founder of the tournament, Lomagundi College teacher Ephraim Muswerakuenda said the tourney has continued to grow.
Four schools took part in the inaugural tournament.

“In the last 13 years, the tournament has been successful and has grown into a formidable soccer festival attracting virtually all CHISZ schools most of whom now offer soccer as a sporting discipline,” said Muswerakuenda.

Midlands Christian College head Daniel Pswarai, who is in charge of CHISZ soccer, said the festival was a giant leap in terms of soccer development.
“Soccer in CHISZ schools has grown incredibly over the past two years and this year’s tournament is another milestone in soccer development.
“We have secured sponsorship which makes the 2014 edition more promising and exciting,” he said.
