“Our purposes of raising funds is to set up a sports development fund and supporting charity Organisations. Golf is being used as a vehicle through which we can reach out to the less fortunate members of the society,” Nhewechena said.
and it also allows  us to interact with the captains of Industry for which we will leverage on that opportunity to discuss other sporting programmes.

“Invitations to the Golf Day were sent to various corporate entities and National Sport Associations. Each team shall pay an affiliation fee of $200 to field a team over and above the donations that they may make to this worthy cause.
“We are expecting a maximum of 30 teams to take part but teams are still confirming and we are aware that some who would like to do it at the last minute,” said Nheweyembwa.
The Golf Day dubbed the “Chairman’s Charity Golf Day”, was initiated last year and raised $22 264.29.
Among the institutions that benefited were Mudavanhu Zimcare School (Midlands), Thuthuka Street Children (Bulawayo Province), Kidzcan Cancer Organisation (Harare)  and Multiple- Sclerosis Society of Zimbabwe (Harare).
Of the amount raised $12 672.33 was channelled into the sport development fund which was created to assist the highly talented but less fortunate athletes to realise their dreams.
“This initiative was undertaken to augment funding that sport is receiving from the Government since it is clear that resources being availed to sport are dwindling by the day hence the need to come up with such extra and innovative measures to ensure that sport continues to develop,” Nheweyembwa said.
