SIMBA Bhora vice-president, Tonderai Ndoro, has confirmed that their players will get Toyota Aqua cars should they win the Castle Lager Premiership football championship this season.

She told Zimpapers Sports that this pledge was made by the club’s director, Brighton Ushendibaba.

But, captain Walter Musona, has already been given a new car by Ushendibaba for being the team’s standout performer in their first six matches of the campaign as he has scored three times.

Musona was the light to the party when Simba Bhora floored giants Dynamos 1-0 which took his tally to three goals at Wadzanai on Sunday.

“We were very surprised by Ushendibaba’s gesture and we are very grateful for the passion he has shown to make Simba Bhora a better team.

“Everyone knows that we are still learning the ropes and having such dedicated people in our camp is not something we can afford to take for granted.

“The players have been made aware of this stunning prize, and also Musona has been rewarded for his exploits which will also challenge his teammates to do more,” Ndoro said.

Ndoro is the wife of the club owner, Simba Ndoro, and she also made more unspecified promises to the players as the season progresses.

She also confirmed that Simba Bhora players shared US$5,000 on top of their usual winning bonus for their spirited fight against DeMbare on Sunday.

Triangle United coach, Arthur Titani, was also rewarded with a Toyota Mark X for guiding Simba Bhora to top-flight football last season.

Musona, who was trusted to lead the Simba Bhora ship by coach Tonderai Ndiraya this season, conceded he never knew if the club was organised to this level.

Musona was heavily criticised for ending his union with FC Platinum and rejecting Dynamo’s offer to join the Shamva-based side.

“When I joined Simba Bhora, I didn’t have much knowledge about this team and to tell you the truth, I’m still out of words to describe how great this environment is for me.

“They are not yet there to the level which they are targeting to reach but, from what I have seen I’m very convinced that I made the right decision.

“I was just hearing rumours that PANJAP was planning to give me a car. He finally informed me after our win against Dynamos and I’m more than grateful,” said Musona.

The look of things shows that Simba Bhora has forced their name into the conversation for championship favourites this season.

They are just a point behind leaders, Highlanders who have amassed 14 points. Ndiraya’s troops have now registered three wins on the spin.

Last season they played all their home fixtures in Harare and Mhondoro, something which some argued stalled their chances to challenge for the title.

Simba Bhora has only lost once at Wadzanai and that defeat came two years ago against Chegutu Pirates when they were still playing in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League.
