Siakobvu Government Complex works begin

Walter Nyamukondiwa Kariba Bureau
GOVERNMENT has started mobilising materials on site for the resumption of construction works at Siakobvu Composite Government Complex which is expected to house all Government departments.

This is expected to bring Government services closer to the people who have been travelling long distances, often by night and by boat to Kariba and Karoi to access services such as birth and death registration, getting identity cards.

Works stalled several years ago owing to lack of funding.

Public Works department Mashonaland West provincial director Mr Trymore Mutizwa said substantial ground was expected to be covered this year.

The Siakobvu Composite Government Complex will bring services closer to the people.

Most Government services are obtained in Kariba urban, while the majority of people are found in the vast rural areas, including Mola, Msampakaruma, Siakobvu and Negande.

Chief Negande welcomed the development saying it would help address some of the challenges being faced in the area including unemployment spur growth of the business centre.
