Property developer Keverth Raydon Sharpe was acquitted on charges of sending a threatening message to his nemesis over his late father’s mine in Shamva.

Sharpe pleaded not guilty to charges of contravening the Postal and Telecommunications Act, which prohibits sending messages that cause annoyance.

Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe acquitted Sharpe saying the evidence of the complainant Douglas Joseph Walsh showed malice.

“The complainant reported a case against Sharpe. Although he denied it at first, he later admitted after being cornered,” said Mr Mahwe.

“The person who was duly to report a case against Sharpe was his late father’s girlfriend. This leaves us to wonder the complainant’s interest in the matter.

“He had malice and the court has to the cautious. Sharpe cannot be placed on his defence therefore he is acquitted.” Prosecutor Ms Gayton Vhiriri, alleged that on July 27 this year at around 1pm, Sharpe sent a message to the complainant.

The message read; “If you don’t get this case stopped, I will fix you. And there will be your blood on the streets and I have connections and high-powered people to fix you.”
