Bethel Christian College (BCC) in Mutare has partnered Simukai Child Protection Programme (SCPP) to help disadvantaged children with payment of school fees.

BCC and Simukai are targeting orphans, especially those who were heading families and will pay for their school fees, food and uniforms.

In addition, they will offer scholarships to the disadvantaged children for boarding schools.

In an interview with The Herald, executive trustee at BCC Ms Shalyn Soma said education and knowledge were vital catalysts for development and increased life quality, hence the partnership with Simukai.

“The programme started on January 8 this year and so far only five children are benefiting from this programme, three of them have registered for the October Ordinary Level examinations this year,” she said.

“This programme is not only going to help children to go to school but also to start building their lives and this acts as a foundation for them,” she said.

She said the agreement sought to reduce the number of children living on the streets.
