Radost Platinum, a new upmarket joint located at Longchen Plaza popularly known as China Mall in Belvedere, opened with a bang with standout performances by two of Zimbabwe’s big names Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi and Suluman Chimbetu at the weekend. The official opening graced by Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Walter Mzembi and his wife Babra as well as Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa and his wife Monica was a thriller.

For close to two hours non-stop Tuku kept fans on their feet with yesteryear hits such as “Watitsvata”, “Neria” and “Roora”.

Sulu joined Tuku on the song “Ndima Ndapedza” much to the delight of the crowd that packed the venue.

Sulu continued with the merry mood and gave a polished performance.

The “Sean Timba” singer took fans down memory lane with songs from his late father Simon.

He belted out yesteryear hits such as “Gamba”, “Saina”, “Mamera” and “Dendera reSango” sending Mzembi and Mutsangwa to the dance floor.

Chimbetu’s publicist, Joe Nyamungoma, said they were humbled by the huge turnout.

“This is a new joint but we were surprised by the number of people who came to support and as you can see top officials have also come to the event which is encouraging,” said Nyamungoma.

He said they were happy that their relationship with Tuku was growing with each passing day.

Wanisai Mtandwa, popularly known as “Mahwindo” -who is managing the joint – said the response was overwhelming.

“This is a new venue and we are trying to bring in new innovations with privacy,” she said.
