PSL bow to World Cup

Sports Reporter
THE Premier Soccer League matches will kick off an hour early when the programme resumes this Saturday after a two-week break to avoid adverse counter-attraction of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, currently taking place in Russia. The domestic league resumes this weekend after a three-week break.

PSL spokesperson, Kudzai Bare, said all the matches pencilled for Saturday will kick off at 2pm so as to accommodate the World Cup quarter-final match scheduled for 4pm on the same day.

Log leaders FC Platinum will headline the fixtures on Saturday when they host ZPC Kariba at Mandava.
The platinum miners are enjoying a healthy lead at the top of the table while ZPC Kariba have been trying to work their way up the ladder following a poor start.

The reverse fixture between the two sides failed to kick off after ZPC Kariba refused to travel to the National Sports Stadium where they had been ordered to play their home match after Nyamhunga had failed to meet minimum requirements.
The match was awarded to FC Platinum on 3-0 scoreline.

Another interesting tie is expected when second-placed Ngezi Platinum travel to the National Sports Stadium for a date with newboys Herentals.

Harare City will host giants CAPS United at Rufaro.
The programme will revert to the 3pm kick-off on Sunday since there will be no FIFA World Cup matches on the day.
Dynamos will host Chicken Inn at Rufaro in a tricky home game while Highlanders face Black Rhinos at the National Sports Stadium.

But before the resumption of the games, the PSL have lined up a two-day Security and Football Management Workshop between Thursday and Friday in Harare.

The workshop comes as a follow-up to one held in Kadoma last year as part of the league’s efforts to enhance safety and security at football matches.

The workshop will be attended by Premier Soccer League stakeholders, including security officers, club public relations officers, representatives from the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Local Authority officials.
