three Zimbabwe bodybuilders were rewarded for their hard work in the 2015 season, which saw the National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilders and Fitness (NFZBBF) making great progress in the development of the sport. The three, Victor Hungwe, Carla King and Wilford Nyaruviro, were all rewarded with professional cards. King made further history by becoming the first woman to earn the World Body Building and Fitness Federation pro-card and joined Hungwe, a proud holder of the international Body Building and Fitness Federation card.

The NFZBBF managed to bring on board several events and they would want to continue in the same vein next year. The association, which was on the revival path, managed to join the international Federation of Body Building.

The association also managed to introduce the Under-23 division at Mr and Ms Zimbabwe contest held in Harare. Reigning Sportsperson of the Year Helen Costa Sinclaire won a World title and also made history by becoming the first female fitness athlete to be crowned the Sportswoman of the Year in Zimbabwe.

NFZBBF also brought into the country high rated judge Christo Van Wyk as they went on to introduce the Masters category.

Mashonaland Central Province was a beneficiary as they established a provincial executive while the first ever Mr Strongest-man contest was held. Quiet Shangai, the NFBBF spokesperson, said this year was one of the best for them and are looking forward to improve next year as they look forward to have more competitive athletes.

“We had Champion Chienderamwano winning his third straight Mr Zimbabwe title and Regina Jonga coming out tops in the ladies section so we hope next year will be a much more competitive one.

“The likes of Simbarashe Mhaka were outstanding winning four titles out of five after he captured the Ironman and Zimbabwe International Fitness titles as well as the Pretoria Classic before capturing the Botswana Classic.

“It is against this background as Zimbabwe body-building athletes continue to shine both locally and at international stage that we will look forward to improve and hold more events next year,” Shangai said.
