PRINCE Edward head coach Robbie du Rand hailed his team’s performance at the rugby invitational tournament in Windhoek, Namibia, at the weekend. The Prince Edward team won four out of the five matches they played with their only defeat coming at the hands of Gymnasium who beat them in the semi-final.

The Tigers were unbeaten in their pool to reach the last four. But they came unstuck against Gymnasium who went on to claim the title.

In their pool matches, the Tigers thumped Dawidbez  48-0 before beating  Windhoek Affies.  They also dismissed Hoer Technical School Invitational 29-0 and edged Hoer Technical 13-8 in a tight encounter.

“Our trip was very successful.  We learnt a lot from it and I am happy with how the boys pulled together,” said du Rand. “We believe that certainly we will improve and probably triumph in our local fixtures.

“All went well, we came third at the tournament after losing to the winners Gymnasium which shows that there is a lot of potential in the boys.”

The Tigers were under the guidance of du Rand and their other school coaches Sebastian Garikai and Shaun De Souza during their tour.
