Air Force of Zimbabwe side Chapungu have described their match against defending champions Dynamos at Ascot this afternoon as a high pressure game. Chapungu have always given the Harare giants a difficult time at their fortress, but DeMbare declared before their departure that they were looking to exorcise the ghosts at Ascot by claiming maximum points against the airmen.

The Glamour Boys started off on a positive note when they crushed Buffaloes 3-0 at the National Sports Stadium.

However, Chapungu often have a way of frustrating opponents in their backyard.

The side’s technical manager, Jairos Tapera, admitted it will be a highly charged game. Tapera, however, has not been available for input this week attending a coaching course which ended yesterday and is confident that their head coach John Nyikadzino has done enough to get the result they want.

“It’s a pressure game and I am sure the guys are prepared. However, I cannot go into a lot of detail because I haven’t been around as I was attending a coaching course which ends today (yesterday),” said Tapera.

The club’s chief executive, Chris Mukotekwa, yesterday said they are expecting a difficult game against the Harare giants.

The AFZ side started the season with an impressive goalless draw away at star-studded How Mine.

“This is our first game at home and, coming at this early stage of the season, I believe it is a big yardstick for our team.

“We all know Dynamos are a big team, they are the champions in Zimbabwe.

“The hype is always there whenever teams like Dynamos visit here. So we are expecting a high pressure game.

“But the good thing is we are at home. We represent the Midlands province and we are looking forward to the match with a positive attitude.

“From the management’s point of view I think we have done everything that we needed to do in preparation of this game. We played a draw in our opening match last week and this match against Dynamos should give us the breakthrough. I am sure the technical team has been working hard on the ground to make sure that we represent the Midlands province well,” said Mukotekwa.

Ascot has never been the best hunting ground for the Glamour Boys who last year fell to a solitary strike by Talent Mwale.

DeMbare have not forgotten how they almost missed out on the championship in 2013 at the same venue when they had to fight for a priceless point in a 1-1 draw against Hardbody to lift the title on goal difference.

The Harare giants are likely to miss their skipper Augustine Mbara, who travelled to South Africa early this week, for trials with Bidvest Wits.

The Glamour Boys coach David Mandigora should have enough arsenal after registering a complete squad of 30 players, including impressive Ghanaian midfielder Erick Opoku, who received his international clearance this week.
