Blessings Chidakwa in Kadoma
Police here have extended a ban on the carrying of dangerous weapons after a similar ban was effected prior to the July 30 harmonised elections. In a statement, ZRP Officer Commanding Kadoma District Chief Superintendent Garikai Gwangwava said the ban would be effective from October up to January next year.

“I do hereby carry a prohibition order of carrying certain weapons specified in this order,” he said in a statement.
“The district boundary is demarcated as follows; confluence of Munyati and Mupfure rivers to the North, Munyati River to the south, Ngezi Recreational Centre to the west.

“Police will invoke Section 14 (5) for anyone who will be found violating the provision of this prohibition order.
“The prohibition order, which is issued in terms of Section 14 (1) of the said Act, was occasioned by the use of the listed weapons in the commission of crime and public disorder or breach of peace within the police district and shall be with effect from October 10, 2018 to January 10, 2019.”

Chief Supt Gwangwava said the carrying in public, whether openly or by concealment, in a public place or public thoroughfares or public display of the listed weapons was prohibited.
The weapons include: “Machetes, axes, spears, swords, knives or daggers and any traditional weapon whatsoever.”
