DO you want to rub shoulders with some of the who’s who in Harare and big spenders? Well, the upmarket Club H2O and Mekka both located at Sam Levy’s Village in Borrowdale could be ideal places for you. While others are complaining about the liquidity crunch that’s affecting business in Harare a drive to Sam Levy’s Village on a Friday night paints a different picture.

The trendy hot spots have lit up Harare’s night life as scores of revellers including ministers, top executives, yuppies and independent women throng the mall for a night  out.

“What liquidity crunch are you talking about?

“We come here every Friday to ‘chop our money’ and a whole lot more,” said one unidentified reveller.

Another reveller said there was no place like Harare when it comes to partying.

Previously, Samora Machel Avenue used to be abuzz with activity at clubs including Sports Diner and Symphony which unfortunately closed down leaving the new Book Cafe as the only hangout along the avenue.

Multiracial
The city centre has become quiet and the fun has moved to Sam Levy’s Village which, despite the spacious car park, is now failing to cope with scores of revellers who throng the clubs just before midnight.

The parties continue way into the early  hours of the morning and revellers still come out smelling fresh from scented air in the clubs.

Last weekend, the two clubs were packed to the rafters. The multiracial crowd flirted between the two clubs to have a feel of both worlds.

Now under a new management team called Event Worx, Club H2O is an upmarket establishment which accommodates at least 800 revellers.

Judging by the new set-up and quality sound system, the new H2O has taken clubbing scene to another level through hosting parties and a line-up of renowned Djs.

Some of the DJs who have showcased at the club include Star FM’s seasoned presenter Otis “The Flow” Fraser, Dino Bravo and Durban’s finest DJ Cndo who performed at the weekend.

Back-to-Back
The guest DJs play back-to-back with the resident and sought-after spinner Smoove.

Elsewhere at Mekka, the beat goes on with the likes of Ray Dizz alongside Rax The DJ. Ever since the club opened its upper deck fans have been thronging the hangout in their numbers.
