LONDON. — Yaya Toure appears to have played his last game for Manchester City after being left out of Pep Guardiola’s Champions League squad.

The veteran midfielder has spent six successful seasons at the Emirates after being sold by Guardiola from Barcelona, winning two league titles and an FA Cup in the process.

But Toure appears to have no future at the Etihad after he was dropped from the match-day squad for Saturday’s 2-1 win against Sunderland.

And Guardiola appears to have confirmed his intentions by leaving the 33-year-old at home for City’s Champions League first-leg qualifier against Steaua Bucharest tonight.

However, Toure earns a whopping £250 000-a-week in his current surroundings and still has a year left to run on his contract.

Inter Milan were strongly linked with a move before they sacked Roberto Mancini, and it appears the Ivorian doesn’t have many options on the table as deadline day looms.

That spells trouble for Guardiola, who wants to offload a number of big earners after spending around £160million in the transfer market.

Joe Hart is the Spaniard’s highest-profile victim, with the England international dropped to the bench on Saturday in favour of reserve Willy Caballero.

Guardiola is still keen on signing a new goalkeeper in order to get his passing game off the ground, with Sporting Lisbon’s Rui Patricio and Barcelona’s Claudio Bravo both linked.

Expensive flop Eliaquim Mangala’s future looks in doubt after the £47.5m signing of Everton star John Stones.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s emergence – as well as the signing of Brazilian prodigy Gabriel Jesus – has spelled the end of Wilfried Bony’s City career. — The Sun.
