MUSHOWANI Stars owner, Irvin Nyakasoka, has called time on football by cutting his links with the former Premiership side.

The Madziva businessman, who bankrolled the club for several years and helped them gain promotion into the Premiership in 2019, feels he has fulfilled his dream.

Mushowani played one season in the top-flight league and were relegated after failing to stand the heat.
The good news, however, is that the team is not going to collapse but will now be run by his children and relatives when they return to the ZIFA Northern Region Division One this season.

Nyakasoka managed to have a feel of Premier League six years after he embarked on an ambitious project to bring Premiership football to the doorsteps of his community in Mashonaland Central Province.

Mushowani Stars sealed the then Ruyamuro Service Stations ZIFA Northern Region Division One League championship after a final day 4-1 victory over Trojan Stars at Trojan Mine back in 2018.
“I have taken a different route and I am taking a back seat on soccer-related matters,’’ the businessman said.

“You know we came a long way and did everything we could and fulfilled our dream of playing top-flight football.

“It’s not easy but I managed. The team did well in all aspects but I have decided to take a rest now and the team will have new structures.

“I am happy to have managed to take the team, throughout the season and, in the process unveiling untapped talent from different parts of the country.

“I supported so many players to realise their dreams so I have decided it’s now time for young stars to take over the project.”

Nyakasoka assured the team’s supporters that it is not the death of their beloved side but rather a slight change in administration.

The team will be starting their pre-season in the coming days to prepare for the upcoming ZIFA Northern Region Division One League.

“There is a young generation that will take care of the team and I believe they learnt a lot from what we experienced for the past seven years.
“The team will be in good hands,” he said.
