ZANU-PF Mashonaland East Provincial chairperson Cde Joel Biggie Matiza has rubbished claims of factionalism in the province. He made the remarks during the Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting held at the Provincial Party Headquarters in Marondera over the weekend.

The PCC meeting was held ahead of the revolutionary party’s annual conference to be held in Esigodini, Matabeleland South this week.

“There is nothing called factionalism in Mashonaland East Province and there will never be such,” Cde Matiza said.

“There are some elements who are seeking to divide the party by spreading lies and rumours that there is factionalism in this province. We are totally against these people.

“The province is united, we are a united revolutionary and a people’s party and as Mashonaland East we are rallying behind our President Cde ED Mnangagwa, he has our unwavering support.”

He said as a province they are endorsing President ED Mnangagwa as the party candidate in the 2023 presidential elections.

Meanwhile, ZANU-PF Mashonaland East Provincial youth chairman Cde Kelvin Mutsvairo condemned the behaviour by MDC parliamentarians who refused to recognise President Mnangagwa as the legitimate President of Zimbabwe.

Cde Mutsvairo said the MDC parliamentarians should not benefit from the State. “As the Youth League, we recommend that MDC parliamentarians should not benefit from the State for their childish behaviour and refusing to recognise the people’s President Cde ED Mnangagwa.

“We also recommend that they must consider forming a choir which will sing on their time not wasting productive time singing in parliament.

“If they don’t want to reform they must not receive any benefit, they respect the parliament sessions and bring meaningful contributions,” Cde Mutsvairo said.

The Provincial executive also urged the Government to urgently address the fuel shortages which they say will affect various sectors.
