AS he takes charge of his first game at Ngezi Platinum this afternoon, Tonderai Ndiraya is taking a cautious approach to their encounter against Border Strikers at Baobab. The former Dynamos midfielder took over from Clifton Kadurira this week, who was reassigned to the position of assistant coach. Ndiraya said he understands the situation at the club and warned his charges against complacency this afternoon.

“I think it’s quite a good feeling on my part to lead such a big institution like Ngezi Platinum Stars. I am quite honoured.

“I just want to thank the guys who gave me this opportunity, this lifetime opportunity with such a great team.

“Coming to the game itself, I think we are done with our preparations for the match. I can safely say we are ready to take on Border Strikers. I understand the situation and that is the reason why we have been working hard this week so that we win. I understand the feeling of management and fans, not winning at home. But I think we have prepared the team and we expect the tables to turn.

“We need to work hard. I would rather play Dynamos than a team at the bottom.

“We lost our last match and they lost their last match so we are starting at the same level. But I think the team prepared for the game will come out top and I hope that’s us,” Ndiraya said.
