YOUNG Warriors head coach Tonderai Ndiraya has pleaded with fans to throng the National Sports Stadium in numbers this afternoon and help his men beat Mozambique in an AFCON Under-23 qualifier.

The first leg ended goalless in Maputo.

Zimbabwe are celebrating the Warriors’ qualification for the 2019 AFCON finals.

“We are in a strong position to qualify, we managed to get a draw away from home and now we want to win at home which I am confident is achievable,’’ said Ndiraya.

“The country is celebrating the success of the senior team and the boys are determined to follow what the senior team did, we want the celebrations to continue.

“But, for us to have a strong chance of progressing, we need our fans to come in numbers to show us some love and support us.’’

The former Ngezi Platinum gaffer has recruited a number of Euro-based players like Spain-based goalkeeper Martin Mapisa.

“Most of these guys are new to international football but I can tell you they have the potential to achieve great things in the game,’’ said Ndiraya.

“They are doing very well and I can say we have a good foundation for the senior team, we hope we will progress and these boys continue to be together for us to create a strong team.

“In Mozambique, the weather was not ideal but I am glad the boys managed to stand the heat and we came back with a draw.

“I am confident we have the capacity to win but my plea is on the supporters to come in their numbers and cheer the team.’’
