THE National Darts Association of Zimbabwe have wished nine Manicaland players, who were involved in an accident near Kwekwe on Saturday morning, a speedy recovery.

The Redwing Mine players were briefly admitted at Kadoma Hospital but were later transferred to Mutare General Hospital where they were all discharged yesterday afternoon.

NDAZ secretary-general Steven Mwarindira said the event went on well despite the injuries suffered by some of their colleagues who were travelling to the venue. We had an unfortunate incident where some of the players were involved in an incident on their way to Munyati near Kwekwe.

“We are happy that they are reported not to be badly injured and we heard they were discharged from Mutare General Hospital where they were transferred to. The Champion of Champions was the opening event for the 2017 darts calendar and a total of 20 teams were expected to take part in this year’s tournament but due to the accident only 18 turned up.

“Mashonaland West had two teams in Mashonaland West A and Dandemutande, Harare Flying Jewels and Jewel Arrows,” said Mwarindira.

The Mashonalnd West A team won the club championship after edging ZRP Buchwa of Midlands.

The highest closure was won by Empiliweni Sibanda from Blanket Mine B team of Matabeleland South.

Arnold Musarava of Mimosa Darts Clubs of Midlands won the most 180s with David Nyemba taking the runner-up slot.
